The DOE (Department of Energy) has instituted a volume purchasing program for replacement windows. The program is for high-volume purchases, such as schools, military bases and commercial projects.
For a manufacturer to qualify, they must have a window that has an overall U-Value of .22 or better.
(For more about U-Values, see below)
At Vista, we feel that the R5 purchasing program should not be limited to large, commercial projects, but that every homeowner should have the opportunity to participate. That is why we provide several windows to our dealer network that meet or exceed an overall window U-Value of .22.

A measure of the rate of non-solar heat loss or gain through a material or assembly. Tests are usually performed under conditions which simulate 0˚ outside and 70˚ inside with a 15 MPH wind. The lower a U-Value, the greater a window’s resistance to heat flow, and thus the better its insulating value.
